The Elementary Art Program uses a multi-media approach to emphasize the elements of design as listed below:
Elements of Design: Line Color Shape Space Texture Value
Some of the various concepts and methods the children will be exposed to include:
Lettering - perspective - cut and paste - clay sculpture - various painting techniques, texture rubbings - copper and aluminum tooling, various printing techniques, puppetry, textiles, origami, color theory, size, shape spatial relationship, pattern, design, mobiles, movement, mixed media overlap, fore ground, middle ground, background, shading, blending, color mixing, weaving, basketry, various drawing materials and technique - various ceramic projects.
ART SHOWS
Student work will be displayed in the halls of the schools throughout the
year and at the District Art Show in May.
ART SHIRTS
Starting this year art shirts will be provided in the art room. Students will have the option to wear an art shirt during 'messy' projects to protect their clothing. 99% of our supplies in the art room are washable, but sometimes our students like to stay clean anyway.
CURRICULUM
The Elementary Art Program is configured to align with the State of Michigan Benchmarks. These Benchmarks are set by the Michigan Department of Education and insure statewide consistency.
